Week 23 Letter from Elder Hills

Hi Family!

I just want to let you know, that our weather has been like late spring almost all of February. This isn't real, Colorado is a lie. :) I have been using those Taco Bell gift cards and they rock! Thanks for those, they're really a life saver! How did you know I love Taco Bell so much?

That's good that the musical is over, that would stress me out so much! Was it a good one?  How is the wood stacking coming along? Where are you putting it this year? I kind of miss it to be honest, it was good work.

This companionship is going good, I've learned a lot but I also feel like we're stuck in a rut. We need to kind of work through some things. I think it's good, though. So, our schedule is pretty basic, wake up, do missionary work (tract, teach, tract) and eat dinner and start over. It's not bad if you shake it up by tracting in different areas, though.

Questions:
1.  One horrible thing that happened this week
2.  One great thing that happened this week
3.  Something you're working on improving
4.  Something that warmed your heart this week

Ok, answers:
1. My testimony of the Book of Mormon was really challenged and my heart hurt really bad because of it.
2. I prayed about the Book of Mormon again, and decided to stay on my mission! It was a really big deal!
3. I'm going to read the Bible, I can't believe I haven't read it start to finish before!
4. Alannah accepting baptism. It's the right step! How did it work out?

I love you guys so much, too! Thanks for everything that you do/have done for me, it really means a lot!

Isabel:  Dang, I remember overwhelming waitresses. Me and my friends would do it all the time! I can't believe how late you were though, dang Isabel! You made dad stay up all night! Classic. Have you heard of the new Mythbusters show? I want to watch it, I miss them. Anyways, good luck looking for a new job, I hear Friendly Beaver is always hiring. Love you!

Ellie: Come on Ellie belly, you need to proofread your letters before you send them! That's OK though, have you been having fun on vacation? What do you get to do? Did you know that you could be driving by the time I get home? Weird, right? I love you Ellie!  Stay cool!

Week 22 Letter from Elder Hills

Hi family!

I can't believe the snow you guys are getting!  It's been in the 50's here for almost a month. Everyone says Colorado winters are "so hard, so cold", but it's been like spring most of the time so far.

That sucks that the motor blew on your snowblower.  Maybe you can use your fancy new tractor and just push the snow! That thing looks like fun, I can't wait to abuse it when I get home. I would get a whole new snowblower and use the parts off the one you have now to fix the new one when it breaks.

Where did you guys go to sled? The same hill as usual? I miss those combined activities, those were some good times. Who was baptized? We had a baptism the other day, and I got to confirm her on the Sunday after. It was a lot easier than I though it was going to be. I thought I was going to be scared, but it all turned out OK.

Questions:
1. Did you get your valentines stuff?
2. Did you get your birthday package?
3. What are you doing for your Birthday?
4. Did you get mom's letter ?
5. What's your companion's name and where is he from?
6. The rose and thorn of the week.
7. Testimony building experience.

Answers:
1) Yes! That was some good candy! I love you guys!
2) I did get those too, why the little Xwing? Haha
3) I played football almost all day, I'm really sore right now. It was actually not my favorite birthday, I miss all my friends and family.
4) I did, right before I left Peoria. I really love you mom!
5) My comps name is Elder Richards, and he is from Wisconsin
6) Rose: My birthday
Thorn: It was president's day, so the library was closed. So I have to email today and I have no time.
7) I re-read the book of Mormon again!

I would love to write more, but we are leaving. I'll try to write some letters tonight! Love all of you!

Week 21 Letter From Elder Hills

Hi everyone! How many weeks are in a mission? I don't really want to do the math... But I feel like I've been out a while. My new comp is pretty cool, and my new area HAS A CAR!!! First area where I don't have to bike! I gotta admit, it feels good. We cover two wards, so church days are really long. I almost fell asleep last week. How's Kaelyn doing? I miss all those little kids, so cute!

Jack Reacher was never going to be the best movie, but it at least looked cool! Was it fast and furious bad? I heard there's another Star Wars movie coming out, "The Last Jedi" or something like that. I got a lot of movies to watch when I get home!

I've heard of Totora, from Alannah. She loves that stuff, it's really not for me though ;P Their Snow thing is pretty funny! It almost looks right. Has she been invited to be baptized again? She is probably ready, I would ask her again.

What!? Gretchen died? That is so sad! That poor puppy! Sam is going to be so sad, I'll have to email him and Marvel. I'll pray for MaryBeth too, that would be so sad, too. I'll probably fast, too.

Questions:
1.  Rose of the week?
2.  Thorn of the week?
3.  Transfer details?
4.  Did you get your Valentine package?
5.  Testimony building experience this week?

ok, answer time:

1.) The rose is that I really like my new area, and I really like my new companion
2.) The thorn is that we went to a Church of Christ with an investigator, and the preacher came up to us after to bash. I learned that I need to read the bible more, I was useless.
3.) I'm in the Buffalo Run and Barr Lake wards, in Brighton
4.) I did! Thank you guys so much! That really was the rose of the week, so much candy!
5.) Nothing too special really, I just keep reading the Book of Mormon and things keep standing out to me. It's all good.

Ok, a couple requests. Could you send me a NH flag? I need one for state pride. And could you also send me a Lego X-wing? I really want one ;P For reasons... Thanks guys, I love you so much!

Ellie: That snow thing is so bad! HAHA! Why is he so fat and short? That's so funny! I'll buy some stamps today and write you a letter, how about that? I love you Ellie, feel better!

Isabel: That sounds like a busy schedule, keep a good attitude and it'll all work out! Sorry I can't write more, I only have two minutes left on this computer! I love you (and gym class)! Thanks for writing to me!

Week 20 Letter from Elder Hills

Hi guys! THE PATRIOTS WON THE BOWL!!!  I actually watched the last touchdown from someone's window while we were knocking doors. Feels good :)  We actually had some pretty good bacon-jalapeno mac-n-cheese the other day. Pretty tasty stuff! How was the pizza night at the Rothsteins? I love their pizza, it's probably the best food on the planet!

I wanted to see Moana on Christmas, but it wasn't out yet. We had an AP for a while who looked like the big guy on that movie, Elder Sakona. He is all done his mission now though, he was a good guy. I hope Ellie is feeling better, I need to write her another letter! I'm out of stamps!

Dang, Bro Nimmo! I can't believe that! I hope that he starts feeling better! That's really too bad, he's too young. Tell him I'm praying for him.

He was so weird when we were in his science class, he's just a weird guy. An 8 hour project? Dang, sounds like crap! I liked gym! The best class around, pretty much the Celestial Kingdom, as long as you get it as your last class of the day... Thanks for the email! I love you!

Ellie: Hi Ellie! That's too bad you got a cold, I hope you start feeling better! I think I"m getting one too, it sucks so bad! How is the weather? Is it warm enough to bike yet? I can't wait to bike witjh you when I get home! It's going to be so fun!

Week 19 Letter from Elder Hills

Hi Family!

So, this has been a really fun week, but I only have about 5 minutes to email (we went to the temple this morning) HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLIE!!!! I can't believe you're so old now! You're still the little nut to me, love you!

Can you shoot me a picture of the new tractor? And what kind is it?

Real quick to answer your questions:

Questions:
1.  What is your 'rose' of the week?  The Naked Chicken Chalupa from Taco Bell, look that up!
2.  What is your 'thorn' of the week?  The Anderson family (I'll tell you about them later) Canceled their baptisms. Bummer
3.  How is your attitude?  Are you feeling positive?  We want to hear how you're feeling!  I feel positive, and that helps my attitude a lot I think.
4.  We want to hear about a testimony building experience you've had lately!  The Missionary Worldwide Broadcast was pretty good, see if you can find that online.

I'm sorry I have no time, but that pepper spray story is SO FUNNY! I wish I was there! I was laughing in the library! Thanks so much for all you guys do, I love you tons!
